Hamilton Erases a 21-Point Deficit to Finish a Perfect 10-0 Regular Season
Arizona — November 2025
Hamilton's perfect regular season nearly didn't happen. Trailing rival Chandler 34-13 at halftime — and without starting quarterback Jax Sculley, who went down with an injury — the Huskies looked like they were headed for their first loss of the year in the latest chapter of the "Battle of Arizona Ave" rivalry.
Instead, Hamilton authored one of the biggest comebacks of the 2025 Arizona high school football season. Backup quarterback Daniel Vaita stepped in and led a 42-point second-half explosion, and Hamilton walked away with a 55-41 win that completed a perfect 10-0 regular season.
Sophomore receiver Roye Oliver III was the engine behind the rally, hauling in three touchdowns, including a 57-yard catch-and-run and a 47-yard scoring strike from Vaita. Oliver's emergence as one of the top young receivers in the country was already a story in Arizona high school football circles by that point in the season, and his performance against Chandler only added to it.
The win didn't just cap an unbeaten regular season — it went a long way toward locking up the No. 1 seed heading into the Open Division playoffs. For a Hamilton team that had to survive a 21-point halftime deficit and the loss of its starting quarterback to get there, finishing 10-0 made the achievement even sweeter. And for a rivalry as fierce as Hamilton-Chandler, it added yet another unforgettable chapter.
