Jake Rogers Threw the First Points of Basha's Championship Run — Then Committed to Princeton
Chandler, Arizona
Jake Rogers played a central role in one of the biggest games of the 2025 Arizona high school football season, breaking off a 30-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter to open the scoring in Basha's 34-7 win over Chandler in the AIA Open Division championship game.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound quarterback, a member of the 2027 class, has drawn steady interest at the FCS level throughout his recruitment. Princeton became the first FCS program to offer Rogers, extending the offer in January after offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mark Rosenbaum saw him throw in person during a visit to Basha. That relationship developed into a commitment, with Rogers pledging to Princeton on June 26, 2026, after also fielding offers from Penn, Eastern Washington, and Brown.
Evaluators have pointed to Rogers's composure in the pocket as one of his defining traits — working through his progressions, taking what a defense gives him, and trusting the structure of Basha's offense rather than forcing plays that aren't there.
For a Basha program that captured a state championship during Rogers's time at quarterback, his commitment to an Ivy League program added an academic dimension to a recruiting story already defined by poise and production on the field.
