Mica Mountain Goes Back-to-Back with Second Straight 4A Title

Mica Mountain is a repeat champion. The Thunderbolts defeated top-seeded Phoenix Arcadia 42-17 on December 5, 2025, to capture their second straight AIA 4A football state championship, closing out a season that began with the Tucson-area program looking to prove its first title wasn't a fluke.
Mica Mountain entered the championship as the No. 7 seed, a path that included a 31-3 win over Gila Ridge in the semifinals to punch its ticket to a second consecutive title game. Facing an Arcadia team that came in undefeated at 13-0 and had been the top overall seed in the bracket, the Thunderbolts once again showed that seeding numbers don't always tell the story once the games start.
The 42-17 final marked a decisive, wire-to-wire performance from a program that has quickly established itself as the standard in Arizona's 4A ranks. Back-to-back state titles are difficult to pull off in any classification, and doing it as a program from outside the traditional Phoenix-area powerhouses made Mica Mountain's run even more notable within the Tucson football community.
For Arcadia, an undefeated season ended one win short of a championship, a tough finish for a team that had rolled through the regular season only to run into a Mica Mountain program that simply had more championship experience when it mattered most.
