Scottsdale Christian's run of 2A dominance started in 2023, when the No. 3-seeded Eagles upset top-seeded Pima 41-24 to capture the program's first state football championship. The win kicked off a run that would eventually stretch to three straight 2A titles.

The 17-point margin reflected a Scottsdale Christian team that controlled the championship game against a Pima squad that had entered the weekend as the top seed in the bracket. It was the kind of statement win that announced the Eagles as a program on the rise in Arizona's 2A ranks, rather than a one-off surprise.

What made the run especially impressive in hindsight was what followed — Scottsdale Christian would go on to beat Pima again in a much tighter 2024 rematch, and then keep the streak alive into 2025 as well. The 2023 title was the first chapter of what became one of the more dominant multi-year runs by any program in the state, regardless of classification.

For Pima, the loss was the first of what would become a frustrating pattern — three straight championship-weekend defeats to the same Scottsdale Christian program over the following two seasons.
