Scottsdale Christian Survives Pima for Back-to-Back 2A Titles

Scottsdale Christian's second straight 2A state championship came the hard way. After routing Pima 41-24 for the title the year before, the Eagles needed a far tighter finish in 2024, holding on for a 28-27 win on November 30 to repeat as champions.
What made the run especially remarkable was where Scottsdale Christian started it from. The Eagles entered the playoffs as the No. 12 seed after a 6-4 regular season — hardly the profile of a repeat champion — and had to fight through the bracket before getting a rematch with Pima in the title game.
Pima made the Eagles work for every point in the rematch, nearly avenging the previous year's blowout loss before Scottsdale Christian's defense made the stop it needed in the closing moments to preserve the one-point win.
Back-to-back state titles are rare in any classification, and doing it as a No. 12 seed the second time around only added to the achievement. For Scottsdale Christian, the 2024 championship confirmed that the previous year's title was no fluke — even against a Pima team that came agonizingly close to flipping the script.
